Made in my garden studio, in Kent, UK I first throw the beakers before decorating the outside. I have deliberately left marks that are made during the process of making on the beaker, and applied other ones, to emphasise the plasticity of the clay when it is wet. This means that they are distorted when looked at from above, as well as from the side. These manipulations increase the tactile quality of the mug, and enrich your experience while you are drinking.
Once biscuit fired, I apply a transparent glaze inside and out, and it is fired to stoneware temperatures. These mugs are made with a dark red coloured clay.
