Small White Handmade Pottery Mug or Coffee Cup with Misty Turquoise Brushed Decoration
This exciting hand thrown handmade stoneware ceramic mug show cases a misty pale turquoise decoration over a white coloured slip, and some impressed flowers. It is a colourful handcrafted cup which will infuse elegance into your daily rituals. It embodies the fusion of meticulous craftmanship and creative expression that characterizes handmade studio pottery.
Made in my garden studio, in Kent, UK I first throw the mugs before decorating the outside. I have deliberately left marks that are made during the process of making on the mug, and applied other ones, to emphasise the plasticity of the clay when it is wet. This means that they are distorted when looked at from above, as well as from the side. These manipulations increase the tactile quality of the mug, and enrich your experience while you are drinking. This mug has a slightly broken rim opposite the handle, and can be seen in the photos.
Once biscuit fired, I apply a transparent glaze inside and out, and it is fired to stoneware temperatures. These mugs are made with a dark coloured clay.
• Approximate dimensions: Diameter at top 7 - 8 cm, height 9 - 10 cm, capacity 225 - 250 ml / 7 - 8 fl. oz
• Free UK delivery
• All items are packaged in a special cardboard box. They are then placed in a further box with compostable chips for transit. Occasionally I use other packaging in order to reuse it and avoid sending it to landfill.
